Summary
Today, the Folks Finance Foundation is minting the full Strategic Supporters token supply ahead of the scheduled beginning of the unlocks on May 6th, 2026. This is a technical operational step required to prepare the unlocking and, successively, distribution software infrastructure, and no tokens will be released to recipients until their specific applicable unlocks begin.
Context
The full Strategic Supporters allocation of 2,472,358.33 $FOLKS is being added to the active token pool today and transferred to a Folks Foundation controlled multisig wallet. Distribution to individual recipients will be handled through a third-party on chain automated unlocking tool, which requires the tokens to be available ahead of the unlock start date.
This will cause an increase in circulating supply as tracked by on-chain data aggregators, however no tokens are being actually distributed today. The unlocks to Strategic Supporters begins on May 6th, 2026, following applicable schedules.
Note
Supply trackers may reflect the newly minted tokens before the unlocks begin, which could appear as an unexpected supply increase. With this message we want to make sure the community has full context and understanding before that happens, in particular that such supply will not actually be circulating rapidly on any market, but only progressively following applicable unlocking schedules.
